There’s no better way to start the 2016 tournament season than with a win. Round 1 of the Gamakatsu Teams series was held at South West rocks with ideal weather & water conditions for fishing.
The Macleay catchment area was lucky to miss most of the heavy rain fall that other areas received this week. After a fairly ordinary practice & no larger fish found we decided to focus our attention on the lower parts of the system where we found the better quality of fish
Our game plan for the day was to throw heavy Cranka Crabs along select areas of rock wall below Jerseyville bridge. Most of the fish were targeted in areas between 15-30ft depth, outside this zone the numbers & quality of fish seemed to diminish. Fishing deeper water can be tricky at times & with such a timid bite experienced over the weekend the extra sensitivity the 13 Fishing rods provide proved to be crucial in detecting the subtle bites. The end result was 5 for 3.78kg.
Thanks to the team at Frogleys offshore for another great event & well done to all the other teams.
